The Postpartum Herbal Bath and the Rebozo Wrap are traditional ancestral rituals, primarily Mexican, used to honor, heal, and “close” the mother’s body and energy after childbirth, generally around 40 days postpartum (the postpartum period). This process seeks to integrate the physical and emotional experience, helping to reposition the organs and bones that expanded.
This ritual was taught to me by my teacher, Mirna Amaya, a Mexican midwife, according to the traditional customs she practices and which she has lovingly and diligently shared with us during her classes and teachings.
Main components:
Postpartum Herbal Bath: This consists of a bath with medicinal herbs (anti-inflammatory, relaxing, and astringent) at a warm temperature to relax, cleanse, and heal tissues.
Hip/Bone Closure (Rebozo): A rebozo, usually seven (one for each energy point), is used to apply gentle yet firm pressure to the mother’s body, from head to toe, with special emphasis on the pelvis.
Traditional Benefits:
Physical: Helps reduce tissue inflammation, realign the sacrum and pelvis, and eliminate accumulated toxins and fluids.
Energetic/Emotional: Allows for the closure of emotional cycles, releases the stress of childbirth, and acknowledges the transition to motherhood.
Breastfeeding: Believed to help increase milk production by relaxing the mother.
Price: $250
