The Postpartum Herbal Bath and the Rebozo Wrap are traditional ancestral rituals, primarily rooted in Mexican tradition, used to honor, heal, and “close” the mother’s body and energy after childbirth. Typically performed around 40 days postpartum (the completion of the cuarentena), this sacred process integrates your physical and emotional experiences, helping to gently reposition the organs and bones that expanded to bring your baby into the world.
Honoring the Lineage
This sacred ritual was passed down to me by my teacher, Mirna Amaya, a traditional Mexican midwife. I carry out this ceremony according to the traditional customs she practices, which she has lovingly and diligently shared with us through her lifelong teachings.
The Core Components of the Ceremony
The Postpartum Herbal Bath: A restorative bath prepared with specifically selected medicinal herbs that carry anti-inflammatory, relaxing, and astringent properties. At a warm, comforting temperature, this bath is designed to deeply relax your body, cleanse your spirit, and heal your tissues.
The Rebozo Hip & Bone Closure: Using traditional woven rebozos—usually seven cloths, representing each major energy point—I apply gentle yet firm pressure to your body from head to toe. Special, intentional emphasis is placed on closing the pelvis and hips.
Physical Healing
- Helps drastically reduce postpartum tissue inflammation.
- Assists in realigning the sacrum, pelvis, and hips after birth expansion.
- Stimulates the lymphatic system to eliminate accumulated toxins and fluids.
Energetic & Emotional Release
- Safely holds space to close the emotional cycle of pregnancy and labor.
- Releases retained physical stress and emotional trauma from childbirth.
- Beautifully acknowledges and celebrates your transition into motherhood.
Breastfeeding Support
Deeply relaxes the mother’s nervous system, which is traditionally believed to encourage a healthy, abundant breast milk supply.
Honor your body’s transition.
